The &#8220;smart paper&#8221; are equipped with <strong>QR-codes<\/strong> and can be issued <strong>by all the devices of the system<\/strong> (ticket offices, TVM, e-commerce portal, on-board devices, etc.) or massively <strong>produced in printers<\/strong> and <strong>distributed to retailers<\/strong> or staff. Many of the problems that a home or office user does not find dramatic, are instead <strong>completely unacceptable<\/strong> on equipment intended to operate up to 24 hours a day and performing tasks of <strong>economic importance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>AEP has a department called <strong>Embedded Operating System<\/strong> (EOS) where <strong>highly specialized<\/strong> technicians, competent both in <strong>software<\/strong> and <strong>hardware<\/strong>, develop and support the <strong>Linux<\/strong> operating system distributions to <strong>make it suitable to equip AEP devices<\/strong>. They are constantly working to perform <strong>tests<\/strong>, develop <strong>drivers<\/strong>, <strong>solve problems<\/strong> of existing ones, study <strong>electronic components<\/strong> and support our <strong>customers&#8217; requests<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>There are <strong>many<\/strong> companies today able to realize <strong>normal software applications<\/strong>. But how many have a <strong>dedicated department<\/strong> and the same <strong>expertise<\/strong> as AEP on embedded operating systems?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Product quality<\/h2>\n<div>\n<p>How is it possible to <strong>guarantee the quality<\/strong> of a product? Many people believe that it comes from a <strong>good design<\/strong>, a <strong>good project<\/strong>, the use of <strong>good materials<\/strong> etc. but this is only&#8230; the beginning! In reality, an <strong>AEP product<\/strong>, as well as a car, is a<strong> dynamic<\/strong> entity that must be constantly supported throughout its existence.<\/p>\n<p>It is in fact possible that the product may be used in <strong>different conditions<\/strong> from those expected, that the characteristics of a <strong>material<\/strong> may bee altered, that a <strong>production process<\/strong> of a <strong>component<\/strong> may change, that a component may <strong>no longer be available<\/strong>, that some characteristics may <strong>change over time<\/strong>, or, simply, that, although the initial tests were accurate, some problem may<strong> not have been detected<\/strong> and therefore requires<strong> corrective action<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The occurrence of these <strong>eventualities<\/strong>, completely <strong>physiological<\/strong> and <strong>predictable<\/strong>, does not represent a vulnus in the Quality process. In reality, an <strong>AEP product<\\\/strong>, as well as a car, is a<strong> dynamic<\\\/strong> entity that must be constantly supported throughout its existence.<\\\/p>\\n\n\n<p>It is in fact possible that the product may be used in <strong>different conditions<\\\/strong> from those expected, that the characteristics of a <strong>material<\\\/strong> may bee altered, that a <strong>production process<\\\/strong> of a <strong>component<\\\/strong> may change, that a component may <strong>no longer be available<\\\/strong>, that some characteristics may <strong>change over time<\\\/strong>, or, simply, that, although the initial tests were accurate, some problem may<strong> not have been detected<\\\/strong> and therefore requires<strong> corrective action<\\\/strong>.<\\\/p>\\n\n\n<p>The occurrence of these <strong>eventualities<\\\/strong>, completely <strong>physiological<\\\/strong> and <strong>predictable<\\\/strong>, does not represent a vulnus in the Quality process. On the contrary, it would be a serious mistake not to <strong>foresee<\\\/strong> them and not have the necessary <strong>organization<\\\/strong> to <strong>manage<\\\/strong> them.
