Signa, 09/20/2019 AEP has obtained OHSAS 18001 certification for workplace safety and the wellness of its employees.
OHSAS 18001 is a voluntary standard, applicable to all private and public, manufacturing and commercial organizations, which establishes how to implement a management system for occupational health and safety, so as to control and manage all activities, minimizing the risks of accidents at work.
Essential requirements to achieve OHSAS 18001 certification are:
- the creation of a safety management system consisting essentially of a set of rules and responsibilities;
- the compliance with current legislation on health and safety at work at all levels: regional, national and European;
- the management’s commitment to continuous improvement in terms of workers’ health and safety, as evidenced by the definition of targeted objectives for this specific issue.
“Due to its voluntary nature and international recognition, we believe that OHSAS certification represents an important step in the evolution of our company”, declared Ing. Giovanni Nebiolo, head of Human Resources at AEP, “It confirms our attention to issues relating to the health and safety of workers, a subject of great importance, which is a moral obligation, even more so for those who, like AEP, are called to operate in the area of services and public administrations”.
